Trapani, also known as the "city of the two seas" is a town rich of history and places of artistic and cultural interest to visit.
The churches and monuments are numerous.
Walking along the streets that wind through the historic city center you can admire many glimpses of great artistic beauty, not to mention the walk along the bastions of the port during a cool summer evening, really suggestive.
There are many beautiful beach resorts in the area.
The main monument is the complex of the Annunciation, where you can visit the magnificent Chapel of the Madonna.
In the vicinity of the Annunciation is the ex convent, now the Museum Pepoli, the main museum of the city.
The Senatorial Palace, also known as Palazzo Cavarretta, is among the most famous in the city, has a facade on two orders decorated with statues and columns and surmounted by two clocks.
Near the palace is the famous clock tower dating back to '200.
There are numerous churches in the historic center of Trapani among which we mention the Church of Purgatory, the Church of the Capuchins, the Church of St. Francis of Assisi and the Church of San Pietro.
The magnificent and imposing Cathedral of Trapani is dedicated to San Lorenzo and was built in the sixteenth century on the remains of a building of the '300.
Garibaldi and Liberty streets are the most typical streets of the city thanks to the numerous palaces and churches of the '700 surrounding it, including the impressive Milo Palace, Fardella Palace, Palace Riccio of Morana, Palace Sanseverino and the Church of Santa Maria del Soccorso, also called Badia Nuova.
Another noteworthy church is the Church of the Carmine, in typical Renaissance style.
We recommend also visit the fascinating Museum of Prehistory and Archaeology Marine, full of artifacts and collections from different historical periods, as well as the beautiful Natural Reserve of Saline which unfold along the coast between Trapani and Marsala in a charming landscape timeless.
From Trapani furthermore you can catch ferries or hydrofoils to the islands Egadi as well as the island of Mozia or of Stagnone.
