Spledid town perched on the slopes of Mount Caputo overlooking the city of Palermo, Monreale is famous for its magnificent Cathedral with its unique composite style, one of the most beautiful in Europe, and the nearby Chiostro of the Benedictine monastery, a real masterpiece of art, sculpture and inlay of hard stones.
Walking through the narrow streets of the historic center or enjoy the typical local dishes in one of the many restaurants or bakeries will really be an unforgettable experience.
Monreale offers a wonderful view over Palermo and the Conca d'Oro, and at just 6 km, continuing the ascent of Mount Caputo you reach the village of San Martino delle Scale, one of the most beautiful mountain holiday resort.
To be visited the imposing building of the monastery, the church and an elegant cloister dating back to the fourteenth century.
A beautiful pine forest extends all around to three thousand feet above sea level.
In the village is highly recommended to taste the famous sweet "panzerotti with ricotta" and pasta "anelletti baked", delicious typical dishes of the area.
